The Deloitte Foundation has awarded Cory Hinds, a University of Iowa accounting Ph.D. candidate, a 2022 Doctoral Fellowship in Accounting.

The Deloitte Foundation awards only 10 fellowships in accounting each year to top tier candidates across the United States. The prestigious award comes with a $25,000 grant to support candidates’ academic careers and the completion of their degrees.

“I’m very humbled to have been selected as a recipient of a Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Fellowship award,” Hinds said. “I’m grateful to Deloitte for sponsoring the award and supporting my academic research. I am sure there were many deserving candidates, so to be selected is truly an honor. While my name is attached to the award, I would not have been in a position to receive it without the great support and mentorship of the accounting faculty at Iowa.”

Hinds’ research uses experimental methods to study the judgments and decisions of investors and managers in financial reporting and capital markets. His dissertation examines retail investors’ information choices and trading behavior. He is projected to receive his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business Department of Accounting in 2023.
