Amy Kristof-Brown, dean of the Tippie College of Business, has been reappointed to a second five-year term, continuing her leadership of the college.

Kevin Kregel, executive vice president and provost of the University of Iowa, announced the reappointment on March 12. The term will expire June 30, 2031.

“I am honored to have been reappointed to serve as dean of the Tippie College of Business for another five‑year term,” said Kristof-Brown. “Leading this college has been my greatest professional privilege, and working alongside our extraordinary faculty and staff gives me tremendous confidence as we build on our momentum and shape the future together.”

Kristof-Brown joined the college as a member of the management and entrepreneurship faculty in 1997 and became senior associate dean in 2017. She was appointed interim dean in March 2020 and full-time dean following a national search in December 2020.

She pointed to numerous accomplishments achieved in her first term, reflecting the collective efforts of the Tippie community, including:

-- Elevating the college’s national reputation, with top rankings in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) and the Iowa MBA.

-- Launching two new majors in RMI and Entrepreneurship, the college’s first new majors in 30 years.

--Expanding research capacity through additional faculty hiring and investment in research infrastructure.

--Building new employer partnerships and strengthening student experiential learning.

--Successfully being reaccredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Kristof-Brown said her goals for the next term will include executing a new strategic plan for the college and expanding the Pappajohn Business Building by annexing the adjacent Gilmore Hall, a project expected to begin construction later this year.

Other second term goals include:

--Continued investment in research excellence while strengthening administrative support for departments and faculty.

--Ensuring intentional enrollment growth aligned with student success, employer engagement, and infrastructure capacity.

--Strengthening delegation and clarifying decision-makingto improve efficiency and empower DEOs, center directors, and leadership teams.

--Communicating with greater transparency about priorities, progress toward strategic goals, and difficult decisions.

“As higher education continues to evolve, Tippie is well positioned to advance and sustain excellence, anchored by financial strength, national visibility, and a shared commitment to our mission,” she said. “That positioning enables our continued focus on ‘opening the doors to business’ and developing future-ready professionals who have the knowledge, agility, and confidence to succeed from day one.”

A native of Maryland, Kristof-Brown earned her BA from the University of Richmond and her PhD from the University of Maryland.
