Tippie finance alum Jack Dreyer (BBA21) can now add “World Series pitcher” to his résumé.

A left-handed reliever from Johnston, IA, Dreyer began his baseball journey with the Hawkeyes, where he carved out a steady career on the mound.

After going undrafted, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021 and worked his way through the organization’s minor-league system, earning a reputation for consistency and command.

In 2025, Dreyer made his major-league debut early in the season and quickly became a dependable piece of the Dodgers’ bullpen. Over the course of his rookie year, he appeared in more than 60 games, logging significant innings and giving the club reliable left-handed depth.

His biggest moment came on baseball’s biggest stage. In Game 3 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays—an absolute marathon—Dreyer was summoned in the eighth inning of the tight game, tasked with keeping the score knotted as the contest stretched deep into the night. He faced two batters, allowing one hit and recording an out, preserving the tie in a game the Dodgers ultimately won. In Game 4, he delivered multiple scoreless innings, quieting the Blue Jays’ lineup.

Although the Dodgers are a team of bright stars, including the otherworldly Shohei Ohtani, Dreyer played a role in bringing home the World Series crown for L.A. By the end of the World Series, Dreyer had thrown four scoreless innings and earned a championship ring—a remarkable milestone for a former Hawkeye who once balanced finance coursework at Tippie with time in the bullpen.

Dreyer has gotten off to a good start in 2026, pitching 21 innings while posting a 2.08 era with 24 strikeouts through June 1, 2026.
