About the Speaker:
Kaushik Basu is a world-renowned economist, author, and professor whose work spans development economics, game theory, and political economy. He is currently a Professor of Economics and the Carl Marks Professor of International Studies at Cornell University. From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Basu served as Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank, where he played a key role in shaping global economic policy. Prior to that, he was the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.
Dr. Basu has authored several influential books and over a hundred academic articles, and his research has contributed significantly to the fields of welfare economics and the foundations of game theory. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and has served as President of the International Economic Association (2017–2021). A dynamic speaker and thought leader, Dr. Basu brings a wealth of insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the global economy today.
