Your cost to attend
Tuition is $2,250 per course ($33,750 for the whole program). The rate is the same whether you are an Iowa resident or a nonresident.
Fees
Iowa MBA students a pay one-time Records and Documents university fee in the amount of $225. If you're a University of Iowa graduate, you get to skip this fee.
Ways to pay for your MBA
Most students get some portion of tuition reimbursed by their employer, but self-funded students are common, too. Other options for paying for your MBA include federal financial aid and private loans.
Most students have some portion of their tuition reimbursed by their employer. Many employers provide reimbursement only when the class is complete and/or when you show proof of your grade. The Iowa MBA offers a way to defer payment of your tuition bill until the end of the semester. Share the Iowa MBA Employer Guide with your supervisor or HR representative to start the conversation.
As a military veteran or active-duty service member, you’re entitled to paying zero application fee. If you elect to take the GMAT/GRE, you may have your testing fee reimbursed by the V.A. (requires GI Bill eligibility).
If you intend to use veteran’s education benefits, you can get assistance through the Office of GI Bill Services at 319-335-3895 or by emailing registrar-vets-office@uiowa.edu.
U.S. citizens and permanent residents can usually get federal loans through the University of Iowa Office of Student Financial Aid. If you plan to go this route, you should complete the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) well in advance of starting classes.
MBA students also have access to a growing number of private loans, like home equity loans or lines of credit. Contact your bank and research your options; terms and conditions for these programs vary.
Iowa MBA scholarships
If you've got a record of academic success, then you may qualify for an Iowa MBA scholarship. Up to 30 incoming students are selected as scholarship recipients each semester, and no separate application is required. Just apply as usual and you'll automatically be in the running for scholarships.
Applying for scholarships: timing
There's no separate application for our scholarships. Simply apply for admission as normal and you'll automatically be in the running for scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded to incoming students who apply and have all of the relevant materials turned in before the priority deadline. For example, for the GMAT/GRE Excellence Scholarship, we need your test scores, and for the Academic Achievement and GPA Recognition scholarships, your unofficial transcripts must be in before the deadline.
Later applications may be considered if funding's available, but for the best shot at scholarships, plan to apply early.
