From U.S. institutions

We are able to review your application using unofficial, digitally duplicated copies of your transcripts submitted within the online application.

If offered admission, the offer will be contingent upon receipt and verification of official transcripts.

Official transcripts should be sent directly from the institution to the Office of Admissions, 107 Calvin Hall, Iowa City, IA 52242 or adm-transcript@uiowa.edu (do not send unofficial copies to this account). Official mailed records must be received in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing institution. Credentials submitted for admission become the property of the university and are not returnable or transferable.

Current or former University of Iowa students need not request University of Iowa transcripts or other transcripts previously submitted to the university.

Note for Professional MBA PreMBA status applicants: Official transcripts are not needed for PreMBA status. If you do choose to send official transcripts at the time of a PreMBA application, follow the instructions above.

Transcripts from non-U.S. institutions

We are able to review your application using unofficial, digitally duplicated copies of your transcripts (or marks sheets as well as a degree certificate for Indian applicants) submitted within the online application.

If offered admission, the offer will be contingent upon receipt and verification of official transcripts.

Official transcripts from non-U.S. schools must bear the original stamp or seal and signature of a school officer. Copies of transcripts must meet one of the two criteria below:

  1. Certified by a notary in the originating country (exception for Indian candidates). Note that international transcripts certified by a U.S. notary are not accepted.
  2. Attested copies with the official seal from the issuing institution (certified copies of original yearly marks sheets and your degree certificate).

These records must include:

  • subjects studied by year, with grades, marks, or percentages;
  • number of weekly lecture and laboratory hours in each subject;
  • grades, marks, or percentages earned in year-end examinations;
  • proof that the degree was conferred (i.e., diplomas, titles, degrees, or certificates awarded).

Documents not in English must be accompanied by official English translations certified by the issuing institution. Photocopies without this certification will not be considered official.
