We are at the mid-point of the semester and approaching a turning point in the year. As the days begin to shorten and the leaves begin to fall, our connections to each other forge the bonds that will help sustain our engagement and energy in the months ahead. DEI themes for the rest of the fall term focus on fostering belonging.

As we move into the energy of the season, the DEI newsletter will be taking on a more streamlined approach with a continued focus on Tippie and UI DEI-related events.

August brings with it a lot of interesting DEI events and observances. We have many Tippie events coming up, and there are many UI and community events.

Our July newsletter contains upcoming Tippie and UI Community events and some of the most important July dates and observances.

Although we have a limited number of courses during the summer, there are still many diversity events happening across campus and in our community. In June we celebrate Pride Month, Juneteenth, as well as a number of other important events and observances.

April includes a record number of Tippie and UI events, starting with our Tippie Monday Memoir on this coming Monday, April 4, at 12:00 p.m., featuring Matsalyn Brown.

A Tippie College of Business professor has received an $800,000 grant as part of an initiative with the National Science Foundation and Amazon to make artificial intelligence algorithms less discriminatory.
