Department Executive Officer, Henry B. Tippie Chair in Accounting, and Professor

Introduction

Ryan J. Wilson is the Henry B. Tippie Chair in Accounting and the Department Executive Officer in Accounting at the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Previously, he was the Director of the School of Accounting and the Richard W. Lindholm Distinguished Professor in Taxation at the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business. He earned his doctorate degree at the University of Washington. Professor Wilson’s research focuses on corporate tax planning and the intersection between tax and financial accounting. His work has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of the American Taxation Association. He served as the Senior Editor of the Journal of the American Taxation Association from July of 2020 to June of 2023. Professor Wilson has taught financial accounting and reporting and advance tax topics for accounting majors, financial statement analysis in both MBA and MAcc programs, managerial accounting in an Executive MBA program, and a PhD seminar. Professor Wilson has received recognition for excellence in accounting instruction at both the University of Iowa and University of Oregon.
