Expand your business with IIB
The Institute for International Business offers many opportunities for local, national and international businesses to become a business consulting client, participate in leadership and governance trainings, host a Tippie student as a summer intern, and more.
Business consulting
Apply to become an international client to receive free business consulting services. Your vision will guide a team of 3-5 University of Iowa students under the guidance of a faculty advisor for a semester-long project determined by your business needs. The curriculum is designed for maximum performance for the client, and throughout the semester, teams provide clients with weekly progress reports and appraisals and will then complete a full report of the objectives, findings and recommendations.
Global certification
This fall, IIB will take part in hosting a Virtual CGBP Exam Prep Course, preparing you to become a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP). This credential is widely recognized as the standard of excellence in expertise and professionalism in international trade.
Host an intern
Iowa International Business Internship
Are you an Iowa business that is interested in entering the global market? Maybe you’re already international and looking to explore new options? Let Tippie College of Business’ Institute for International Business (IIB) pay for your summer intern for an international business project!
The Iowa International Business internship program is envisioned as an experiential learning process for the interns, as well as a positive business growth endeavor for Iowa companies. We are open to collaborating with your company based on your specific needs for an intern; the only stipulations we hold are that your company be based in Iowa and that the intern’s position or project must include exposure to international business. Some examples of past positions offered to interns were in product management, brand marketing, market research, international trade, digital marketing and analytics, operations, and supply chain management.
We want this internship to be flexible and to have a low bar of entry so that many companies can host interns and many students will be able to gain hands-on international work experience. The IIB at Tippie will pay the wage of your Tippie undergrad intern to work up to 20 hours per week for 8 weeks during Summer ’25 up to $2,300. For more information on this opportunity, please reach out to IIB Program Coordinator Jayne Meacham at jayne-meacham@uiowa.edu.
Global Business Innovators Internship
Are you a Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni who is interested in hiring a summer intern? Please fill out this brief questionnaire regarding how a University of Iowa business student intern can help your business, and you will be contacted by an IIB staff member for further information. Program also open to other IIB-affiliated international businesses.
