Use this form if you want to appeal your denial of admission to the Tippie College of Business. If you do not meet the requirements for enrolling in major-level courses in accounting, you must petition for access to those courses. This form can be submitted only after you have been officially denied admission. Appeals for Spring 2024 admission must be submitted before December 28, 2023. Letters of recommendation or references are not accepted.

This can be found in your Admissions Profile in the MyUI student portal.

Appeal Letter

Please upload a professional letter that:

  1. Details the factors which led to your becoming inadmissible to the Tippie College of Business;
  2. Outlines the specific behaviors that will lead to your successful graduation if admitted to the Tippie College of Business; and
  3. Includes a detailed academic plan of study for your remaining time at the University of Iowa (please see below for instructions on submitting your academic plan).

Your letter should be addressed to the Admissions Committee.

Academic Plan

Submit an academic plan outlining your remaining semesters left to complete your Tippie Degree.

  • Please refer to the BBA Degree Overview and Majors in Tippie modules in your Pre-Admission Requirement (PAR) course on ICON to understand the requirements of your degree.
  • You can also run a “what-if” degree audit for your intended major and refer to our major sheets to assist with course sequencing and planning.
  • Please refer to the module for your intended major within PAR for more specific details about your major including specific course sequencing required.
  • In your academic plan, please be sure to include course numbers and titles of your courses in each semester.

Next Steps

You will be notified of the outcome of your appeal within 10 business days from the date the appeal was submitted. Notification will be sent only to your University of Iowa email address.
