The Tippie College of Business Social Impact Community is hosting a workshop connecting researchers and professionals interested in how businesses are managing their social impact and how that approach has shifted over time.

Businesses operate as a part of a broader system and impact multiple stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, communities, and society. Businesses use a variety of approaches to advance social, environmental, and long-term economic sustainability. Over the past 25 years, focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has increased, along with new regulations on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting. However, these approaches are not static. Changes are shaped not only by regulations but also by societal views about business responsibilities.

The key objectives of this workshop are to:

• Identify different ways in which businesses manage their social impact
• Understand how approaches to corporate social responsibility, sustainability, social impact, and ESG reporting have shifted over the past ten years
• Identify challenges and unanswered questions about the implications of various approaches to managing social impact
• Create a community of researchers and professionals who are interested in this topic
• Create interdisciplinary working groups to collaborate on future research projects or grant opportunities related to the social impact of business

Light refreshments will be provided. If you are unable to attend the full event, please feel free to come and go as needed. We'll be moving between presentations, large group discussions, and small group discussions, and can integrate you in at any time.
