Building Resilient Communities through Local Solutions and Collaborations
The Tippie College of Business Social Impact Community is hosting a workshop connecting researchers and professionals interested in building and supporting resilient communities.
Friday, October 3, 2025
Hosted at the Tippie Social Impact Community
From 1:00-4:00 pm in S401 Pappajohn Business Building (PBB)
Resilient communities are made up of people and organizations that can have the capacity to address environmental, social, and economic challenges. Using shared resources, trust, adaptive capacity, and systems of support, communities can thrive in the face of a range of challenges.
In this workshop, we will discuss strategies for building and supporting resilient communities and the key challenges in this process. We’ll hear short talks from researchers and community leaders who will share their insights and experiences. We’ll also have lots of time for roundtable discussions where you can connect with others doing similar work.
The key objectives of this workshop are to:
- Share strategies for building and supporting communities that leverage community resources and empower local solutions
- Identify key challenges and unanswered questions regarding building and supporting resilient communities
- Connect researchers and external partners with expertise related to resilient communities (e.g., economic systems, mutual aid, conscious consumption, right to repair, community building, empowering local solutions, interorganizational alliances)
