Get ready, get going
No matter where you’re starting, there’s a place for you at Tippie.
Whether you’re still in high school, already attending the University of Iowa, or transferring from another college, you’ve got options. Gear up for a college experience that will get you career-ready and help you stand out with employers.
Paths to admission:
If you know that a Tippie degree is right for you, start in the BA program in Economics and decide whether to pursue admission to the BBA program, or gain early admission to the BBA program right out of high school. If you’re not sure whether Tippie has what you want, you can start as a Pre-Business student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to explore everything Iowa has to offer.
Admission to Tippie is slightly different depending on which degree you want and where you’re coming from.
Coming in as a first-year student?
Gain admission the BA or BS program in Economics by hitting the required RAI minimum. Or gain early admission to the BBA program by hitting a set of additional academic benchmarks. Either way, you’ll have access to special scholarships and resources as well as Tippie Academic Advising all the way from day one until the day you graduate.
Coming in after your first semester at Iowa or from another institution?
If you’ve taken some time to explore options at Iowa or another institution, then you can transfer into Tippie. Students in good academic standing can transfer directly into the BA or BS program in Economics. Students wanting transfer into the BBA program just need to hit a set of additional academic benchmarks.
“I took two ‘Finding Your Major’ classes that made me realize I have so many opportunities – the world is my oyster. By my second semester, I was admitted to Tippie and became a marketing major.”
International students
Whether you take some time to explore or join Tippie right away, you’ll find your home away from home in our friendly campus community.
Returning and non-degree students
No two paths to a business degree look alike. Former Iowa students who are returning to the university, or non-UI students wishing to take Tippie courses outside a formal UI degree program are welcome.
