Get to know the Tippie College of Business
Strategic. Curious. Agile. Collegial. It’s tough to explain who we are in just a few words.
Since 1847, the Tippie College of Business has cultivated a legacy of innovation, thought leadership, and excellence in business education.
Tippie has over 4,700 students, with BBA and graduate programs spanning six academic departments—accounting, business analytics, economics, finance, marketing, and management and entrepreneurship. We are eight centers and institutes, and four student-managed endowment funds. We have over 54,000 alumni—and growing.
But who we are is not just in the curriculum we curate—it’s also in the culture we create. Our leadership embraces our responsibility to pursue excellence through diversity. More than 150 years after our founding, we continue to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment and modern programming that meets today’s learners exactly where they are.
“After four years, you’ll be amazed at how transformed you are. You’ll never forget this place.”

You’ll love it here
You may not think “cultural oasis” when you think of Iowa City—but you should. A Midwestern mecca for the arts, this creative, forward-thinking community is one of only two UNESCO cities of literature in the country. Iowa City boasts art, music, film, comedy, and literary festivals throughout the year. Walk just a few steps from campus to explore over 100 restaurants, eclectic retail shops, and the famed Prairie Lights bookstore—or bike the 14-mile Iowa River Corridor Trail to take in the rolling Midwestern scenery made famous by former resident Grant Wood.
