Alumni Story
Katelyn Wheeldon

“As a financial analyst intern, I got to see clients starting out their portfolios. I’d sit down with them and ask what they were saving for and how risk-averse they are in building what goes into an investment portfolio.”

Global experiences & study abroad

Here, global is more than backpacking in Europe. In addition to study abroad opportunities in dozens of locations, you can pursue global internships or add to your world view with experiences on campus, like joining an international student organization or earning an International Business Certificate.

Study or intern abroad

If you want to take an in-depth look at a topic that interests you and you’re good at working independently, think about doing academic research. You can work with Tippie’s internationally respected faculty on an honors thesis or a research project where you collect, analyze, and present data. Along the way, you’ll build skills that are invaluable in your future career or in grad school.

Real-world experience

At Tippie, even your classroom is packed with beyond-the-classroom experiences. That’s because a growing number of courses have an “experiential” component—consulting with a small business, completing tax returns for community members, managing a stock portfolio for an investment board. Real work. Real world. Real resume booster.
